Bookfever

I decided to reread Bloodfever for the Irish/green covers challenge of Book Boyfriends on Goodreads. I've been meaning to read it for a while and came to the conclusion that rereading the Fever books is really good for reading slumbs. I also wanted to read this agai for reviewing purposes since back in 2011 I read this book I wasn't reviewing really yet and other than that it's just really nice to be back in this fantastic world.

Karen Marie Moning created such amazing books, worlds, characters and dialogue, not to mention the insane tension between Mac and Barrons. Bloodfever, though not my absolute favorite in the series has definitely left an impact once more. Just like Mac, the reader will have a difficult time figuring out where all the players in the game really belong to. Good? Bad? Or is everything more in shades of gray and not all black and white?

One would think that reading this book for the second time, and knowing what I know from reading all the other books, it would make things predictable or boring maybe. But guess what? It sure as hell didn't! I enjoyed Bloodfever almost as much as the first time I read it. I've come to realize that rereading certain books can alter one's perspective about that book. You see things you didn't see before and realize things you didn't realize before; I love that!

I must admit that this time around I didn't like Mac as much as I did in Darkfever or all the other books. I'm not sure why but I do think she was pretty brave at the end. Also she and Barrons were so funny, punching each other and then semi-getting it on. Whew!
Barrons as always was epic, sexy and such an enigma. Now I also realize that even now, about four books later, I still don't know everything about him. I still have a lot of unanswered questions that I hope will be answered at some point. Although not knowing everything about him makes him all the more mysterious and dangerous.
I've always loved V'lane. In this book he was so funny, trying to meet Mac halfway. I loved the beack scene in Faery. It was my favorite between them.
We also get to know Christian MacKeltar, who becomes a pretty bit part in this series (check Iced). Oh, how simply everything still was back then.*sigh*
Oh and Dani! Gotta mention her, because when I first read this book I didn't pay enough attention to this girl. Little did I know she'd get her own books. I loved seeing her reaction to Mac, who's still a little clueless about everything sidhe-seer and fae but they do kick some serious ass together in the future so I loved reading about their early interactions together.

Bloodfever is a worty sequel to the amazing Darkfever. Mac is the kind of heroine you'd both want and not want to be. Moning created a dark and deliciously twisted world that will both frighten and entice her readers. And Bloodfever is only the beginning...
